Hmmmm my favorite Korean dish…….
Such a difficult question!
I think out of the few that I have tried, I will pick Bulgogi
Marinated meat is always a plus with me.
I would love to try others though! These three pictures look delicious!!!
Chef Ji, you are the coolest! Actually, no, you are the hottest! haha
I had the pleasure of discovering Korean food through a Korean girl I met!
My favorites are most certainly Dakdori tang and Dak kalbi. I also truly enjoy the ‘dumpling’ like appetizers (i’m sorry the name escapes me at the moment). Not to mention bulgogi is delicious!
I regularly make dakdoritang and Dak Kalbi at home and have come to truly love that red pepper paste.
There was another pork dish which was eaten with some fresh cabbage leafs (you would use the leaf to pick up some of the meat). I can’t for the life of me remember the name of that dish but it was delicious (I only had it once).
Kimchi is slowly growing on me but I’ve yet to be able to say “mmm I’m craving some good kimchi”
Please forgive the horrible spelling of those dishes! It was a shame that you weren’t able to keep going in Hell’s Kitchen I think you would of had a good shot at making it to the end.
I am married to a great Korean woman (aren’t they all?) who likes to cook and her mother visits from Korea for months at a time every 2 years or so, so I have the unique opportunity to sample a wide variety of Korean dishes. But being a typical guy, I gravitate towards the meat dishes. As much as my wife has tried to duplicate it, a local Korean restaurant serves up a fantastic version of Daeji Bulgogi (Spicy Pork Bulgogi) that I can’t get enough of. I order it extra spicy. The thing that separates it from other versions I have tried nationwide is that the chef cubes the meat (pork tenderloin) and it’s grilled in a way that brings out the flavor more than any other version I’ve ever had. It’s served on a sizzling plate. I guess you could say it’s more BBQ style than most. Usually, I’ll find that most kitchens serve the pork sliced and it tends to arrive a little greasy. Anyway, that’s my favorite and if Chef Ji could send along a recipe that fits this description, I would be forever grateful! Of course, L.A. (Kalbi) ribs are great as is a good Mandu soup (that’s where my wife shines). Good luck Ji! I think you would have come out on top at Hell’s Kitchen but I’m sure you will be very successful in whatever you do. And with your model looks and T.V./film experience, I think we’ll see you someday with your own show.
I used to frequently eat at a Korean restaurant called Hahns Hibachi (the Castro Street location) when I lived in San Francisco. My memory for the names of dishes is terrible, but I know I loved everything I ate there! I especially love dishes made with glass noodles. I actually just found Hahns website and it has a menu on it, so I can say with confidence that my favourite Korean dish is Chopchae. I’ll eat any meat with it, or tofu, it doesn’t matter… I just love those noodles!

Its hard to choose my favorite korean dish.
I think it would be a tie between bibimpap and korean BBQ.
I also love kimbap and mandu.
kimchi jigae!
I don’t have much experience with korean food but i’d love to. But for me Jja Jang Myun or Korean Black Bean noodle
